A 41-year-old man has been arrested following a serious disturbance aboard an EasyJet flight from London Luton to Glasgow Airport, prompting a counter-terrorism investigation.

Police Scotland confirmed officers boarded the aircraft upon landing at 08:20 and detained the suspect, who reportedly became aggressive mid-flight. Video footage widely shared online shows a man shouting inflammatory phrases, including “death to America, death to Trump” and “Allahu Akbar,” an Arabic expression meaning “God is great.” The footage captures two passengers intervening and restraining the man until the plane touched down safely in Glasgow.

Authorities have described the situation as isolated, with no evidence at this stage to suggest involvement from any other individuals. Police Scotland said its Counter Terrorism Unit is reviewing the incident thoroughly as part of ongoing inquiries.

A Police Scotland spokesperson stated: “A 41-year-old man has been arrested in connection with a disturbance on board an aircraft which landed at Glasgow Airport. Inquiries are ongoing, and the incident is being assessed by specialist officers.”

While full details of the man’s motives remain under investigation, the nature of the remarks and the disruption have understandably raised concerns among passengers and authorities alike. Passengers on board the flight reportedly remained calm during the event, and there are no reports of injuries.

The case has now been referred to counter-terrorism officers, who will examine whether any offences under anti-terror legislation may have been committed. Such assessments are standard procedure in incidents involving threatening or extremist language, particularly when directed toward national figures or in a high-security context such as commercial aviation.

Security at UK airports remains high, with authorities routinely reviewing safety procedures. While police believe the incident was contained and posed no wider risk to the public, its investigation reflects the seriousness with which any disturbance involving potential extremism is treated.

EasyJet has confirmed it is cooperating with police inquiries and has offered support to crew and passengers affected by the incident. The airline reaffirmed its commitment to passenger safety and praised the swift actions of those who intervened.

The arrested individual remains in custody as police continue to examine the full circumstances. The incident is expected to reignite discussions around onboard security, passenger screening, and the rising challenges posed by lone disruptive individuals.
