The Royal Air Force’s renowned aerobatics team, the Red Arrows, is set to captivate crowds across the UK this weekend with thrilling flypasts at the Blackpool Airshow and the Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo.

Known for their precision flying and breathtaking aerial displays, the Red Arrows will headline the Blackpool Airshow on both Saturday, 9 August, and Sunday, 10 August 2025. The free event, running from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day, promises a packed programme featuring a wide variety of military and civil aircraft alongside the iconic RAF team.

The weekend’s excitement begins at Blackpool with the Red Arrows’ first display kicking off at 2 p.m. on Saturday. Following this, the team will travel to Edinburgh to perform a flypast as part of the ticketed Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo, one of Scotland’s most celebrated military events. The Edinburgh display is scheduled to start at approximately 6:15 p.m.

On Sunday, the Red Arrows will return to Blackpool for an evening performance at 5 p.m., completing a busy schedule that is sure to draw large crowds eager to witness their signature aerial stunts.

Detailed flight routes and timings have been published to assist spectators in tracking the team’s movements across the UK. On Saturday, the Red Arrows will depart Blackpool at 1:38 p.m., flying over Southport at 1:40 p.m., Llandudno at 1:47 p.m., and Rhyl at 1:49 p.m., among other locations, before returning to Blackpool for their display.

After the first Blackpool show, the team will depart again at 5:42 p.m., making their way to Edinburgh via Cleveleys, Haverthwaite, and northwest of Penrith, arriving near Murrayfield Stadium just before the Military Tattoo flypast.

Sunday’s flight path includes overflights of Southport, Llandudno, Rhyl, and several other towns en route to Blackpool for the 5 p.m. display, with the final departure around 7:30 p.m., concluding the weekend at RAF Waddington.

Weather conditions and operational requirements may cause slight adjustments to timings and routes, but organisers are confident the Red Arrows will deliver spectacular performances throughout the weekend.

The Blackpool Airshow offers free admission, encouraging families and aviation enthusiasts to enjoy a full day of aerial entertainment. Meanwhile, the Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo provides a historic backdrop, combining military precision with cultural celebration.

The Red Arrows are a key symbol of the RAF and UK defence, showcasing the skill and professionalism of Britain’s armed forces. Their displays not only entertain but also foster public engagement with the military and highlight the capabilities of the Royal Air Force.

Spectators are advised to check local information ahead of the events and arrive early to secure good viewing spots. Photography and filming are welcome, capturing moments of these iconic displays that are eagerly anticipated across the UK each year.

This weekend promises to be a memorable celebration of British military aviation, with the Red Arrows once again taking centre stage.
