Pakistan Condemns Israeli ‘Greater Israel’ Remarks, Calls for International Action

Islamabad, Pakistan, on Friday issued a strong condemnation of recent statements from the Israeli government advocating for the creation of a so-called “Greater Israel,” calling on the international community to reject these provocative notions outright. The Foreign Office (FO) described the statements as a “flagrant violation of international law, the principles of the UN Charter, and relevant United Nations resolutions.”

“These statements reflect Israel’s intent to entrench its illegal occupation and disregard global efforts toward lasting peace and stability in the region,” the FO said in an official statement. Pakistan’s position comes amid escalating tensions in Gaza, where more than 61,000 Palestinians have reportedly lost their lives since October 2023, according to local health authorities. The humanitarian crisis has displaced a large portion of Gaza’s population multiple times, leaving swaths of the territory in ruins.

The Pakistani government reaffirmed its unwavering support for the Palestinian people, highlighting their legitimate rights, including self-determination and the establishment of an independent, viable, and contiguous State of Palestine, based on pre-1967 borders with Al-Quds Al-Sharif as its capital. The FO emphasized that the international community must take “immediate and tangible measures” to prevent Israel from further destabilizing the region and to hold it accountable for ongoing atrocities against Palestinians.

Pakistan’s response aligns with its long-standing policy of defending the Palestinian cause and advocating for international intervention to restore peace in the Middle East. Analysts note that Islamabad’s stance also seeks to underscore its position as a principled actor in global affairs, challenging aggressive policies that threaten regional stability.

“The statements from Israel are not only provocative but dangerous,” said a senior Pakistani diplomat. “They undermine decades of international efforts for a peaceful resolution and pose a serious threat to the rights and security of the Palestinian people.”

While Pakistan’s condemnation may be largely symbolic, it sends a clear message to the international community and reinforces Islamabad’s commitment to standing with oppressed nations. Observers also suggest that such diplomatic pressure could influence global discourse on Israel’s policies in Gaza, encouraging other countries to take a firmer stance on Palestinian rights.

The Foreign Office concluded that all nations must reject the concept of a Greater Israel and work collectively to prevent further destabilization in the region, stressing that justice and peace for Palestinians must remain a priority for global policymakers.
