Claymore, NSW (16 August 2025) – Three 13-year-old girls are appearing before a Children’s Court today, charged over the alleged assault of a 14-year-old at a bus stop in Sydney’s south-west.

According to NSW Police, the incident occurred around 7 pm on Friday, 15 August, when the victim was approached at a bus stop in Claymore. Police allege the girl was threatened at knifepoint by three teenagers and forced to walk to the end of Longstaff Way. There, she was allegedly punched, kicked, and ordered to remove her clothing. Authorities say the girl was then whipped with a phone cord while being recorded on mobile phones.

Police further allege the suspects stole the victim’s clothing, shoes, and mobile phone before leaving the area. The girl, who police confirm was known to the offenders, reported the incident shortly after.

Police Operation

Officers from Campbelltown City Police Area Command launched a search with support from the NSW Police PolAir helicopter. PolAir is frequently used in high-risk operations across Sydney, providing aerial surveillance and rapid response. The three suspects were located in Claymore not long after the assault and were taken into custody. Police also seized their mobile phones as part of the investigation.

The girls were transported to Campbelltown Police Station, where they were formally charged. One of the 13-year-olds faces multiple charges, including aggravated robbery with an offensive weapon, causing a person aged 14 or over to produce child abuse material, and possession of child abuse material.

The two others face charges of aggravated robbery with an offensive weapon and causing a person aged 14 or over to produce child abuse material.

Court Proceedings

All three have been refused bail. They are scheduled to appear in Parramatta Children’s Court today. The Children’s Court of NSW deals with criminal cases involving young people under the age of 18 and has jurisdiction to hear serious matters, including violent offences.

Court documents state that the victim was known to the accused, though police have not disclosed further details about their relationship. Authorities continue to investigate and have urged anyone with information to come forward.

Broader Context

Claymore, located in Sydney’s south-west near Campbelltown, has been the focus of community policing efforts due to periodic spikes in youth-related crime. NSW Police regularly highlight the importance of early intervention programs, though cases such as this underscore the seriousness of violent offences involving minors.

Aggravated robbery with an offensive weapon is a serious charge under New South Wales law. Convictions can result in significant custodial sentences, even for young offenders, depending on the severity of the crime and the findings of the court. Offences involving child abuse material are also treated with particular severity, as they carry broader implications for victims and the protection of children.

Ongoing Investigation

Police say their inquiries are continuing, and further charges could be laid depending on the outcome of the forensic examination of the seized devices. Detectives have not ruled out the possibility of additional evidence emerging from digital recordings of the alleged assault.

A NSW Police spokesperson said: “This was a serious incident involving a young victim. The matter is now before the courts, and police will continue to investigate.”

Community members in Claymore have expressed shock at the allegations, with local authorities urging parents and guardians to remain vigilant. Police have reminded the public that anyone with information should contact Crime Stoppers.

The three girls remain in custody and will reappear in court as proceedings continue. No verdict has been reached, and the matter is currently before the judiciary.
