London Police Hunt Killer After Romford Murder

Police in London have launched a murder investigation after a young woman was killed outside a care home in Romford during the early hours of Saturday morning.

Officers were called to Chadwell Heath Lane at around 5:30 am following reports of a serious incident. Paramedics attended, but despite their efforts, the woman was pronounced dead at the scene. Her identity has not yet been confirmed.

The Metropolitan Police confirmed that a crime scene has been established and forensic teams are collecting evidence near the care home. No arrests have been made so far. A post-mortem examination will determine the cause of death.

Detective Superintendent Brian Hobbs, who is leading the investigation, offered condolences to the victim’s family and urged witnesses to come forward. “Our thoughts today are with the victim’s family and friends in light of this truly tragic event,” he said. He added that residents would see an increased number of officers in the area as enquiries continue.

Family liaison officers are supporting the victim’s relatives. Detectives are appealing for anyone who may have been in the Romford area at the time to share information that could help identify the suspect. The killing has sparked concern among residents, highlighting wider fears about safety in parts of East London. Communities in Romford and nearby Harold Hill have previously raised worries about rising violent crime and antisocial behaviour.

Local councillors have noted that these concerns come as major regeneration projects are underway in the area. The first phase of redevelopment in Harold Hill, announced earlier this year, will see older shops, pubs and housing replaced with new developments. While many residents welcome investment, others say the changes have coincided with a sense of instability in the community.

As police continue their search for the attacker, officers remain on patrol in Romford to reassure the public. Detectives stressed that even small pieces of information could be crucial in helping bring the killer to justice.
