Delhi Man Arrested for Alleged Assault on Mother

New Delhi, India – A 39-year-old man has been arrested in central Delhi’s Hauz Qazi area for allegedly raping his mother twice, police officials confirmed. The accused, identified as Md Firoz, also known as Suhel, allegedly committed the acts after accusing his mother of having a “bad character.”

According to police, the complainant, accompanied by her 25-year-old daughter, filed a report after enduring multiple assaults and sexual abuse over the past two weeks. The victim and her family had recently returned from a pilgrimage to Saudi Arabia when the incidents reportedly began.

Authorities said the accused initially contacted his parents while they were abroad, demanding that his father return immediately to Delhi and divorce his mother. Following the family’s return on August 1, the alleged assaults began. Police reports indicate that the accused repeatedly attacked his mother, threatening her with a knife and scissors, and allegedly raped her on two occasions, including incidents on August 11 and August 14.

The complainant is an illiterate housewife married to a retired government employee. The family resides in Hauz Qazi along with the accused and one of their daughters. The family’s elder daughter lives nearby with her in-laws. Officials noted that the accused is a graduate but is currently unemployed.

Due to fear and shame, the victim initially did not disclose the assaults and took precautions to stay safe by remaining with her daughter. Police confirmed that the victim eventually reported the matter after the final incident on August 14.

The Hauz Qazi police registered a case under the relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code and have initiated a formal investigation. Authorities confirmed that the accused is in custody and is cooperating with law enforcement.

A senior officer said, “This is a serious case involving domestic assault and sexual abuse. Our investigation is ongoing, and we are prioritizing the safety and protection of the victim while ensuring the accused faces legal consequences.”

Incidents like these underscore the importance of vigilant law enforcement and community awareness in protecting vulnerable individuals. Police officials emphasized the need for victims to report abuse promptly and for family members and neighbors to support survivors by alerting authorities.
