UK: Arsenal Seal Eze Deal as Transfer Deadline Nears

Arsenal have completed the signing of Crystal Palace midfielder Eberechi Eze in one of the biggest transfer moves of the summer, with the north London side beating fierce rivals Tottenham Hotspur to his signature.

The Gunners agreed a deal worth £60 million plus £7.5 million in add-ons, meeting the 26-year-old’s release clause. Eze, who grew up supporting Arsenal, underwent his medical at the club’s training centre on Friday. While he will not feature in this weekend’s fixture against Leeds United, he is expected to make his debut against Liverpool next week.

The move is seen as a significant boost to Mikel Arteta’s side, who were determined to add more creativity and attacking threat to their midfield. Tottenham, who had also shown strong interest in Eze, are now left searching for an alternative attacking option as the transfer deadline approaches.

Elsewhere, Newcastle striker Alexander Isak has sparked controversy after issuing a strong statement accusing the club of “broken promises” and a loss of trust. The Swedish forward, who has been heavily linked with Liverpool, criticised Newcastle’s handling of his future. Liverpool made an offer reported to be around £110 million for the striker, but the bid was rejected as it did not meet Newcastle’s valuation.

Speaking on the situation, Newcastle manager Eddie Howe described Isak’s public comments as “a sad moment” for the club. With the deadline fast approaching, speculation continues over whether Liverpool will increase their bid or look elsewhere for a forward signing.

Meanwhile, Manchester United remain unsettled in their search for a goalkeeper. The club have been linked with a move for Senne Lammens, the 23-year-old Belgian currently at Antwerp. Reports suggest United are monitoring his situation closely, although Manchester City are also reported to have shown interest.

United may also allow striker Rasmus Højlund to leave, with Napoli emerging as a potential destination. The Danish international has endured a mixed spell at Old Trafford, and a loan move is being considered as Erik ten Hag assesses his squad depth.

With the final days of the transfer window now under way, Premier League clubs are scrambling to finalise their squads. Arsenal’s capture of Eze marks one of the biggest deals so far, but the futures of Isak, Højlund, and several other high-profile names could yet dominate headlines before the deadline closes.
