Multiple first responders were dispatched early Saturday morning to a crash involving a school bus carrying students from Aliquippa Middle School’s football team in Economy Boro, Beaver County, Pennsylvania.

Beaver County emergency services confirmed to Pittsburgh’s Action News 4 that personnel were called to the 190 block of Shaffer Road following reports of a bus collision. Responders arriving on the scene observed the school bus with significant front-end damage. The accident also resulted in several downed power lines and utility poles in the immediate area.

Eyewitnesses reported that the bus was transporting members of the Aliquippa Middle School football team when the incident occurred. Several students were injured, and first responders, including paramedics and local fire crews, immediately assisted those on board. Some students were transported to nearby hospitals via ambulance, while others were taken by their parents.

Beaver County dispatch later confirmed that 21 individuals were hospitalized due to the crash. Authorities have not yet released details on the severity of injuries for each patient. Emergency crews also worked to secure the scene and address hazards created by the downed power lines.

In response to the incident, Aliquippa Middle School’s football program posted a notice on Facebook, directing parents to meet at Fire Station #2, located at 2430 Ridge Ext. in Ambridge, to check on their children and coordinate transportation.

Local officials are investigating the circumstances surrounding the accident. Initial reports do not indicate whether road conditions, mechanical failure, or other factors contributed to the crash. Authorities urged residents in the area to avoid Shaffer Road while cleanup and repairs were underway.

School bus safety remains a priority for Pennsylvania school districts. According to state guidelines, all buses are inspected regularly, and drivers undergo extensive training to ensure student safety. Despite these measures, accidents involving school buses, though rare, can occur and often require immediate coordination between emergency responders, schools, and families.

The community has expressed concern and support for the students and their families. Local organizations and officials have emphasized the importance of quick response and communication during such emergencies, highlighting the critical role of first responders in minimizing potential harm.

As the investigation continues, authorities have asked anyone with additional information about the crash to contact Beaver County dispatch. Updates regarding the condition of those injured are expected to be released as hospital reports become available.

The Aliquippa Middle School football team and Beaver County officials are working to ensure students receive appropriate care and that families are kept informed throughout the recovery process.
