Red Route One, a multiple graded stakes-winning son of Gun Runner, has been purchased for $550,000 at the 2025 Fasig-Tipton July Horses of Racing Age Sale and will enter stud in Argentina in 2026.

The 5-year-old colt, campaigned over four seasons by his breeder, Winchell Thoroughbreds, was acquired by Emmanuel de Seroux’s Narvick International in partnership with a group of investors. De Seroux confirmed the horse will stand at Martin Nicolas Benedicto’s Haras La Pasion, a farm with a history of standing prominent U.S. stallions, including Violence and Gouverneur Morris.

“At the time of the sale, we decided to postpone Red Route One’s stud career until the 2026 season because it was too close to the sale to begin immediately,” de Seroux said.

Red Route One is out of the unraced Tapit mare Red House. His second dam, Fun House, earned the title of 2014 Kentucky Broodmare of the Year and produced 2014 champion 3-year-old filly Untapable, as well as Grade 1 winner Paddy O’Prado. The colt’s fourth dam, Carol’s Christmas, was a foundation mare for the late Verne Winchell, whose son, Ron Winchell, now manages a highly successful racing and breeding operation.

Known for a strong stretch kick, Red Route One achieved six wins in 28 career starts, with four second-place finishes and three third-place results, earning a total of $2,165,107. Highlights of his career include a third-place finish in the G1 Breeders’ Futurity at age 2, a win in the G3 West Virginia Derby at 3, and victories in the G2 New Orleans Classic and G3 Prairie Meadows Cornhusker Handicap at 4. At 5, he captured the G3 Essex Handicap, concluding his racing career on July 5 with a sixth-place finish at Prairie Meadows in an attempt to repeat in the Cornhusker Handicap.

Haras La Pasion, where Red Route One will stand, has been recognized for its role in bringing U.S. stallions to South American breeding programs, contributing to the development of high-quality bloodlines in Argentina. The farm’s owner, Martin Nicolas Benedicto, expressed enthusiasm for the arrival of Red Route One, noting the colt’s proven performance and strong pedigree as key factors for a successful stud career.

With a combination of notable racing achievements and elite bloodlines, Red Route One is expected to attract breeders in Argentina and potentially beyond. The colt’s move represents a strategic addition to the region’s thoroughbred industry, reinforcing Haras La Pasion’s reputation as a leading destination for quality stallions from the United States.
