Apple Releases iOS 18.3 Update to Address AI Notification Summaries

On January 27, 2025, Apple released iOS 18.3, introducing significant changes to its AI-driven notification summaries following incidents of incorrect news headline summaries. The update temporarily disables notification summaries for news and entertainment applications, with plans to restore the feature once improvements are implemented. Users who have opted into this feature will receive notifications upon its reinstatement.

In addition to addressing notification summaries, iOS 18.3 enables Apple Intelligence by default on supported devices, including iPhone 15 Pro models and later, Apple Silicon M1 devices, and the latest iPad mini. New features include Visual Intelligence capabilities, such as adding events to the Calendar app from images and identifying plants and animals.

The update also introduces changes to notification summaries, displaying them in italics for easier distinction, and provides new lock screen management settings. The iOS 18.3 update is available in Settings > General > Software Update.
