Bob Odenkirk Addresses ‘Better Call Saul’ Revival Prospects

Three years after the six-season run of Better Call Saul concluded, actor Bob Odenkirk has expressed skepticism about a revival of the acclaimed Breaking Bad spin-off.

Odenkirk, who portrayed the cunning lawyer Saul Goodman, acknowledged the impact the role has had on his career, describing it as a turning point. Speaking on Today, he said, “That part turned my life around, and I’ve given more to that part than anything I’ve done. Vince Gilligan and Peter Gould created that show. They are some of the best writers who have ever worked in TV. So if they were to think of something in that world, of course, I would do it.”

Despite his willingness to reprise the character, Odenkirk indicated that the likelihood of another series is slim. “I don’t think so. I think they’ve all moved on to some more amazing projects that you’ll soon see,” he added.

The Better Call Saul finale, titled Saul Gon,e and aired on August 15, 2022, and concluded the story of Saul Goodman with him accepting responsibility for his long history of criminal activity, including his involvement with Walter White. The character was sentenced to 86 years in prison, making further storylines outside of prison unlikely. “He’s not getting out [of prison]. If there’s another Saul show, it takes place inside prison,” Odenkirk remarked.

Better Call Saul originally premiered in 2015 and ran for six seasons, chronicling Saul Goodman’s life six years before his entanglement with Walter White in Breaking Bad. The series received critical acclaim and earned multiple Golden Globe and Emmy nominations throughout its run.

Odenkirk’s comments come amid growing interest from fans for a continuation or spin-off. However, the actor emphasized that the creative minds behind the show have already moved to new projects, suggesting that any revival would likely focus on a different aspect of the Breaking Bad universe.

The series remains one of AMC’s most celebrated productions, praised for its complex storytelling, character development, and connection to the Breaking Bad legacy. While fans remain hopeful for further appearances of Saul Goodman, Odenkirk’s remarks clarify that any new material would likely be limited to narratives within the prison setting or alternative perspectives on the existing story.
