CINCINNATI, Ohio, Police have charged an eighth suspect in connection with a violent downtown brawl that erupted in late July, an incident that left multiple people injured and sparked viral attention after footage spread online.

Authorities confirmed that a 45-year-old White male faces a fourth-degree misdemeanor charge of disorderly conduct for his role in the July 26 fight. Despite being listed as a suspect, police also consider him a victim, which shields his identity under Marsy’s Law. The statute allows crime victims to withhold their names from public disclosure. The man is scheduled to appear in court on August 26.

The large-scale fight broke out in the early morning hours near the corner of Fourth and Elm streets in downtown Cincinnati. Videos of the violent confrontation quickly circulated on social media, drawing widespread public attention.

The latest charge comes after a series of earlier arrests. Last week, 32-year-old Gregory Wright was charged with aggravated riot and aggravated robbery. According to court documents, Wright allegedly assaulted a victim alongside several others and forcibly removed a necklace during the beating. Prosecutors say he then recorded additional footage of the brawl, further complicating his case.

Earlier this month, six individuals were indicted by a grand jury for their alleged participation in the same incident. They face a combined array of felony charges, including assault and rioting.

Each faces three counts of felonious assault, three counts of assault, and two counts of aggravated rioting. Prosecutors said the severity of the charges reflects the violent nature of the confrontation and the number of individuals involved.

The incident has raised concerns among residents and city officials about public safety in downtown Cincinnati. Street violence, particularly when captured and shared widely online, not only threatens community safety but also tarnishes the reputation of the city’s business district.

Officials have not released further details on what initially sparked the melee. However, police reports suggest multiple groups were involved, and the altercation quickly escalated beyond control before law enforcement intervened.

The Hamilton County Prosecutor’s Office has emphasized that the investigation remains ongoing, and additional charges could follow depending on the outcomes of court proceedings.

The 45-year-old man charged most recently will join the others already facing serious allegations when he appears in court later this month. Authorities stressed that Marsy’s Law protections will continue to apply in his case, balancing his legal status as both a defendant and a victim.

Meanwhile, the cases against the six previously indicted defendants and Gregory Wright are moving through the judicial system. Prosecutors are expected to pursue significant penalties if convictions are secured, citing the disruptive and dangerous nature of the downtown brawl.

City officials and community leaders have pledged to increase safety measures in busy downtown areas to help prevent future incidents. While the investigation continues, Cincinnati residents remain watchful as the legal process unfolds.
