Eleven Individuals Jailed This Week Across Merseyside

Courts across Merseyside have delivered significant sentences this past week, sending 11  individuals to prison for a range of serious offences.

The convictions span from disturbing cases of sexual abuse and large-scale drug trafficking to violent street crime and a fatal road incident. These sentences underscore the ongoing commitment by law enforcement to tackle serious criminality across the region.

Among those locked up were a drill rapper whose online feud escalated into real-world terror, a young man responsible for a fatal road accident while inhaling nitrous oxide, and a woman caught attempting to smuggle Class-A drugs into a music festival. These sentences highlight ongoing efforts by law enforcement to tackle serious crime within the region.

Odday El-Saddi, 48, from Warrington, received a substantial 17-year prison sentence after being found guilty of 15 sexual offences, including sexual assault and rape, stemming from a three-year campaign of abuse against a child who was just nine years old when it began.

Filip Stasiuk, 25, was given 38 months behind bars for his involvement in supplying cocaine and cannabis. Interestingly, Stasiuk had attempted to mask the smell of his illicit cannabis with an “excessive number” of air fresheners, a detail noted during his court appearance.

Michael Aley, an 83-year-old man from the Netherlands, was extradited to the United Kingdom (UK) and sentenced to 10 months in prison. He admitted causing a child to watch sexual activity, having exposed himself to a 15-year-old girl during a series of perverted Skype calls. He will serve his sentence in his home country.

Harry Ford also received a 30-month sentence after pleading guilty to possession of heroin and cocaine with intent following a police raid on his home.

Justice Served

Steven McCracken was handed a lengthy 12-year and eight-month sentence after a major police investigation uncovered 10 kilograms (kg) of Class A and B drugs, over £30,000 in cash, three firearms, and a silencer at a property.

Kieran Size, 26, from Crosby, was jailed for 40 months for being concerned in the supply of crack cocaine and heroin after a “graft phone” was found in his vehicle during a police stop.

Chris Beya, a YouTube drill rapper known as “Crashbandit,” was sentenced to three years in prison. Beya admitted possession of an imitation firearm with intent to cause fear of violence following an ambush on rival rapper Rashan Hamilton, known as “R1,” as he left a mosque. The court heard their dispute was part of a wider gang rivalry.

Molly Breen, 26, received a 27-month sentence for attempting to smuggle drugs into the Creamfields music festival. Breen was caught with 74 MDMA tablets and 15 small snap bags, valued at approximately £1,200, secreted on her person, having been asked to convey the drugs into the site by an unknown individual.

Thomas Gibson, a teenager who had only recently passed his driving test, was jailed for four-and-a-half years. Gibson admitted causing death by dangerous driving after losing control of his car and fatally striking 79-year-old Edward Hickey and his nephew. The tragic incident occurred after Gibson had been inhaling nitrous oxide from a balloon while driving, having spent the day “huffing NOS” at the beach with friends.

Daniel Birchmore of Wigan was jailed for two years after admitting violent disorder, joining an “angry mob” in Southport where he was seen on camera throwing a wheelie bin and a brick at police officers during an outbreak of violence.

Finally,  a 43-year-old Benjamin Sharp of Wallasey was jailed for four years. Sharp, a paedophile, was found guilty of three counts of gross indecency with a child and one count of indecent assault, alongside an admitted charge of sexual assault, after developing a disturbing obsession with a young girl he sexually abused.

As these individuals face justice, the community is urged to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities, helping to keep our neighbourhoods safe for everyone.
