Heller Machine Tools is highlighting its UK-manufactured precision machining centres at this year’s Defence and Security Equipment International (DSEI) exhibition in London, showcasing its role in strengthening sovereign defence manufacturing and supply chain resilience.

The company is exhibiting at the Make UK Defence Pavilion, where it is presenting its high-performance 4-axis H-series and 5-axis HF-series machining centres. Built at Heller’s Redditch facility in the West Midlands, these machines are designed to meet the demanding requirements of the defence and aerospace sectors, where precision, repeatability and durability are essential.

By manufacturing its equipment domestically, Heller aims to support the UK’s strategic goal of reducing reliance on global supply chains. The company is also promoting four core strategies to meet modern defence needs: automation readiness to offset labour shortages, digital integration for predictive maintenance and traceability, UK-based production to improve security of supply, and rapid on-site service support.

In addition to its production systems, Heller is introducing the TOKN device, a compact, mobile 5-axis CNC training centre. This system is designed to provide practical training for engineers and apprentices, helping to build hands-on machining skills without disrupting production lines. The company hopes the TOKN will contribute to bridging the industry’s skills gap and inspiring a new generation of manufacturing talent.

With a heritage dating back over 130 years, Heller has developed into a global leader in CNC machining technology. Its renewed focus on expanding UK manufacturing capacity aligns with national priorities to enhance industrial autonomy and defence readiness.

As the UK pushes forward with its Strategic Defence Review and broader efforts to boost domestic defence capability, Heller’s participation at DSEI 2025 underscores the vital role of British engineering in meeting those objectives. The company’s emphasis on local production, technical innovation, and workforce development reflects a broader industry shift toward resilience and long-term self-reliance.
