Islamabad, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Thursday visited the under-construction Technology Park in Islamabad, expressing dissatisfaction with the slow pace of work and directing authorities to expedite construction to meet the original timeline.

According to an official statement from the Prime Minister’s Office, the premier emphasized the project’s strategic importance for Pakistan’s economic and technological growth. He called for the facility to meet international standards in both infrastructure and services, ensuring it can effectively support the country’s digital economy.

“All stakeholders must accelerate their efforts to complete the Technology Park at the earliest,” PM Shehbaz said during the visit. “This project is critical to the growth of Pakistan’s IT sector, the creation of jobs for our youth, and the overall progress of the national economy.”

Officials briefed the prime minister on the scope and features of the project. The facility is designed with two basement levels, a ground floor, and nine upper floors. It will house office spaces, an incubation center, a business support center, research and development laboratories, a Level III data center, and an auditorium. Parking facilities will accommodate up to 1,200 vehicles.

The briefing highlighted the Technology Park’s expected role in generating employment opportunities, enhancing Pakistan’s global competitiveness in IT, and supporting sustainable economic growth. The project also aims to narrow the digital divide and provide a platform for innovation, entrepreneurship, and research.

The prime minister reiterated his government’s commitment to supporting the technology sector and stressed strict adherence to construction timelines. He urged enhanced coordination among all relevant departments and directed that regular progress reports be submitted to the Prime Minister’s Office.

“There is no room for delays in such nationally significant projects,” he said. “We are investing in Pakistan’s future. A state-of-the-art Technology Park will not only attract foreign investment but also help harness the potential of our talented youth.”

Authorities noted that the project is intended to be a hub for technological advancement and innovation, contributing to both economic development and job creation. The government’s initiative reflects an ongoing effort to strengthen Pakistan’s IT infrastructure and global standing in the sector.

Completion of the Islamabad Technology Park is expected to mark a milestone in the country’s efforts to modernize its economy and provide high-quality infrastructure for research, business development, and digital services.
