Police in Perth have launched an investigation after a video circulated on social media containing threats against Mount Lawley Senior High School. The video, which has since been removed from TikTok, allegedly showed students in school uniforms alongside images of armed individuals, prompting concern among parents and school staff.

Authorities were alerted to the threat on Friday, leading to a significant police presence at the school. Multiple police vehicles and officers attended the campus as part of precautionary measures while the matter was investigated.

A Western Australia Police (WAPOL) spokesperson confirmed officers were working closely with the school to address the situation. “Police are actively investigating and are working with the school to resolve the matter,” the spokesperson said. They added that there was no immediate danger to students, staff, or the wider community.

The principal of Mount Lawley Senior High School, Lesley Street, sent an email to parents following the incident. In the message, she urged families to discuss social media use and online safety with their children. “It is important to be aware of the positive and negative impacts of social media and conversations within the community, as misinformation and rumours may be unhelpful,” the principal stated.

School staff were informed that police would conduct regular patrols around the campus as a precaution. The WAPOL State Security Investigation Group is leading the inquiry into the matter, with officers reviewing the video and any related information.

The incident highlights the growing concern over threats shared online and the role of social media in spreading potentially alarming content. Authorities emphasise the importance of reporting suspicious activity promptly to ensure the safety of students and staff.

Parents and students are being encouraged to maintain open communication about online behaviour, and school officials are reinforcing guidance on responsible social media use. While the video has been deleted, investigations continue to identify those responsible and determine the context of the threat.

Police have reassured the public that there are no ongoing safety concerns and that the situation is under control. They continue to monitor developments and collaborate with the school to prevent any potential incidents.

Mount Lawley Senior High School remains open, and the school community has been reminded of the measures in place to ensure safety. The investigation serves as a precautionary response, demonstrating the commitment of authorities and the school to protect students and staff.
