The Metropolitan Police have released new details, and for the first time, photos, of Blue Stevens, a 34-year-old father-of-two who was stabbed to death near the Bulgari Hotel in Knightsbridge, West London, in what investigators believe was a targeted robbery for his gold Rolex watch.

The newly released image of Stevens, showing him smiling in a family photo, aims to encourage witnesses to come forward as police intensify efforts to piece together the final moments leading up to the brutal attack. Detectives say the move is part of a broader appeal for public assistance and underscores the human cost of violent street crime linked to luxury goods.

Stevens was attacked shortly after 9:20 p.m. on Wednesday, July 9, on Seville Street—a location steps away from the upscale hotel and luxury boutiques. Police say he was with his partner when he was confronted and fatally stabbed, reportedly while attempting to fend off a knife-wielding robber.

Despite the efforts of emergency responders, Stevens was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Metropolitan Police’s Specialist Crime Command is leading the investigation. Forensic officers conducted an extensive examination of the crime scene, which remained cordoned off for the following day. Detectives have not formally confirmed robbery as the motive, but multiple sources suggest that the attacker was specifically targeting Stevens’ gold Rolex, which has not yet been recovered.

As part of their update, police confirmed three arrests have been made in connection with the killing. Two men were taken into custody on Saturday at a property in Hounslow, West London. One remains in police custody on suspicion of conspiracy to murder, while the other—arrested on suspicion of murder—has been released on bail. A third man has also been arrested, though details about his role remain undisclosed.

No formal charges have been announced as of yet.

The release of Stevens’ photo comes amid growing public concern over a wave of street crimes in affluent parts of London, where criminals have increasingly targeted high-end watches and jewellery in broad daylight and busy areas.

Officers are urging anyone who witnessed the attack or has dashcam or mobile footage from the area around Seville Street at the time to come forward.

“This was a brutal attack that has left a family devastated,” a police spokesperson said. “We believe there are people out there who may have seen something or may have captured something important on camera. We are asking them to do the right thing and come forward.”

Anyone with information is urged to contact the Metropolitan Police or report anonymously through Crimestoppers.
