Reform UK Pledges to Reinstate Winter Fuel Payments and Scrap Two-Child Benefit Cap

May 25, 2025, London, Reform UK leader Nigel Farage has announced that his party will fully reinstate winter fuel payments for pensioners and abolish the two-child benefit cap if they gain power in the upcoming general election. These commitments aim to address growing public concern over cost-of-living pressures and benefit restrictions.

The winter fuel payment, which provides up to £300 annually to pensioners, was restricted last year to only those receiving pension credit, affecting over 10 million households. Farage’s proposal seeks to reverse this policy, ensuring broader access to the support.

Additionally, Reform UK plans to eliminate the two-child benefit cap, a policy that limits means-tested benefits for families with more than two children born after April 2017. This move comes amid internal divisions within the Labor Party, with Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer facing pressure from MPs to reconsider the policy.

Reform UK suggests cutting spending on net-zero projects to fund these initiatives and halting the use of hotels for housing asylum seekers. The party’s proposals are set to be unveiled at a press conference next week, setting the stage for a heated debate in the lead-up to the election.
