A man in Abingdon has been arrested for failing to appear in court on a charge of drug driving, following an operation carried out by Thames Valley Police.

Officers from the force’s Rural Crime Taskforce arrested in the early hours of August 21 at a residential address in Abingdon. A spokesperson for the task force confirmed that the individual is currently being booked into custody and will be brought before a court in the morning to answer the charge.

“The suspect is currently in custody and will appear in court tomorrow regarding the drug driving offence,” the spokesperson said.

The arrest comes as part of ongoing policing efforts in Oxfordshire to ensure compliance with the law and address criminal activity in both urban and rural areas. The Rural Crime Taskforce regularly conducts targeted operations to tackle offences ranging from vehicle crime to anti-social behaviour in local communities.

Residents have welcomed the increased police presence. One witness, who asked not to be named, said: “It’s reassuring to see the police actively patrolling the area. It shows they are taking action to keep the community safe.”
